Communication, Marketing Strategy

When is the Right Time?

When is the right time to write a book?

To launch a new service?

To learn a new skill, explore a new business opportunity or finally pursue that idea that’s been sitting quietly in the back of your mind?

Make a Start

If you’re waiting for the perfect moment, you may be waiting forever.

I was reminded of this recently by my friend, psychologist Jane Hudson, who published her first book at the age of 76. It would have been easy for her to think she had left it too late, or that the timing wasn’t quite right. Instead, she chose to begin.

As someone who had the privilege of handling the publicity for her book, I watched her journey unfold with admiration. Long before the interviews, reviews and book launch, she made a decision to put pen to paper. One page became another, one chapter led to the next, and eventually she achieved something she had always wanted to do.

Her story is a wonderful reminder that worthwhile goals don’t have an expiry date. More importantly, they don’t have to begin with a grand gesture. They simply need a first step.

That lesson applies just as much in business.

Over the years, I’ve worked with business owners and executives across a wide range of industries. One thing they have in common is that the most successful among them don’t stand still. They are willing to embrace change, explore new opportunities and look for better ways of doing business.

They don’t always have every answer before they begin. They test new ideas, refine their approach, learn from experience and continue moving forward. Progress rarely comes from waiting until everything is perfect. More often, it comes from taking the next sensible step.

In the communications world, we sometimes refer to this as a “soft launch,ne has” introducing an idea, gathering feedback and building momentum before making a big splash. It’s a strategy that reduces risk and creates confidence.

Perhaps that’s an approach we can all adopt.

Whether you’ve been considering a new product, expanding into a different market, strengthening your online presence or simply sharing your expertise more consistently, you don’t have to do everything at once. You don’t need the perfect plan before taking action. Start with one conversation. One article. One meeting. One new idea.

Momentum

Momentum has a remarkable way of building once we take that first step.

As we move through the second half of the year, perhaps the question isn’t whether the timing is perfect. Perhaps it’s whether you’re ready to begin.

And when you are ready to share your next chapter—whether it’s a new venture, a product launch or simply telling your story more effectively—we’d be delighted to help you connect with the audience that matters most.

Sometimes the smallest step forward is the one that changes everything.
