Almost There

November is here, and in Durban you can feel it. The days are longer; the sea is calling and the finish line for the year is in sight.

It has not been an easy year for many of us. Budgets have been stretched, decisions have been harder and most businesses have had to work a little smarter and a little longer to get where they needed to be. If that sounds familiar, you are in good company.

So this month, there is no to-do list from us. Just a few thoughts.

Be proud of getting here.

Keeping a business going in this economy takes resilience, creativity and a good deal of determination. Your team has kept turning up, your clients have been looked after and the doors have stayed open. That is worth acknowledging.

Let yourself switch off.

When the office closes in mid-December, we hope it really closes. Put the laptop away, leave the phone on silent and spend the time with the people who matter. A proper rest is one of the best things you can do for your business, and for yourself.

Keep it simple.

If you do one small thing before you go, make it a friendly “thank you and see you in January” message to your clients and your team. It costs nothing, takes five minutes and people remember it.

Look ahead with hope.

Nobody has a crystal ball, but there is a quiet optimism in the air. Many of us are hoping 2027 will be a little easier, and that is a good place to start from. Fresh energy, fresh ideas and perhaps a few of the things we put on hold this year.

When you are rested and ready, we would love to hear what is on your mind for the new year. There is no pressure and no rush. If there is a story you would like to tell, an idea you would like to talk through or something you simply need a second opinion on, we are here.

In the meantime, enjoy the run-up to December. We will send one last note at the beginning of the month before the office goes quiet.

Until then, take care of yourselves.

And remember, in PR, it’s who you know.

And we know people.
