Before the Office Goes Quiet…
October has arrived, summer is on its way, and suddenly December doesn’t seem quite so far away.
In Durban, we know what that means. Longer days, warmer weather, holidays on the horizon – and somewhere between now and the end of the year, businesses will start thinking about their annual shutdown.
And plenty to talk about.
For many companies, the office will close around mid-December and reopen in January. But before the out-of-office messages start appearing, there is still plenty of life left in the business year.
Perhaps your company has had a significant year. Maybe you have launched something new, reached an important milestone, welcomed a new client, expanded your team or completed a project you are particularly proud of.
Or perhaps nothing dramatic has happened – but there is a good story sitting quietly in the corner waiting to be told.
That’s where public relations comes in.
Not every story needs to be a major announcement. Sometimes it is about finding the interesting angle in something your business does every day. Sometimes it is about putting a face to the people behind the business, sharing expertise or simply reminding your market that you are there.
And October and November can be a good time for those conversations.
By December, everyone is thinking about holidays, family, travel and switching off for a while. That is as it should be. But before we all start counting down to the break, there is an opportunity to make sure your business has said what it needs to say.
At SWC, we don’t believe in creating publicity for the sake of creating publicity. We start with your brief, agree what needs to be achieved and then get on with delivering it.
Sometimes that means a press release. Sometimes it is a feature article, an interview, a social media post, a newsletter or simply helping you work out whether an idea is worth pursuing.
And sometimes it means saying, “Not yet – let’s keep that one for next year.”
So, as the temperature rises and the year starts gathering speed towards its finish, don’t be surprised if you suddenly realise there is something you meant to tell people.
Give us a call.
We may already have an idea of where it could go – and if we don’t, we know people who might.
After all, in PR, it’s who you know.
And we know people.
